National Wildflower Centre Liverpool
Our design for a new education and visitor centre at the National Wildflower Centre locates the buildings to the edges of the site allowing the wildflowers to remain at the heart of the historic walled garden. A new accessible, multi-level educational visitor trail follows the cycle of wildflower production and offers the opportunity to observe the operational processes and engage with the well established meadows. The flexible arrangement of classrooms is securely located on the upper floor of the main building and benefit from a range of sustainable principles including passive ventilation, night cooling and adjustable solar shading. Energy is generated from the site via pv solar panels, ground source heat pumps and wind turbines.
