Chris Mackenzie Director RIBA ARB

Chris trained at Portsmouth University and graduated with Distinction in 1990. He is the founding director of Designscape Architects, and has a particular interest in sustainable design and the placing of buildings within the landscape.

Chris has gained significant experience in low energy and low environmental impact buildings as well as extensive knowledge of a wide range of building types and construction and procurement methods. Formerly a senior project architect at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, he held overall responsibility for the new £23m Portland Square Building at the University of Plymouth. Chris also worked on the technical design issues of the 2008 RIBA Stirling Prize winning Accordia Housing in Cambridge.

His earlier experience at CODA Architects and Fitzroy Robinson included the £13m refurbishment of the John Lewis department store in Liverpool, as well as various urban design projects in and around Bristol. He has also won and been shortlisted for a number of open design competitions.

A former President of the Bristol Society of Architects and Chairman of the RIBA Bristol and Bath Branch, Chris continues to teach architectural students at the University of Western England in Bristol.
