Alex Sykes Associate RIBA ARB

Alex studied at Newcastle University before graduating from the Mackintosh School of Architecture in 1999. For nearly ten years, Alex worked at Hopkins Architects as a key member of the design team on several significant award winning projects. These included the new Parliamentary Building (Portcullis House) in Westminster, the David Mellor Design Museum and Cafe in Derbyshire, and a competition winning design for the new Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham.

His most significant role was to be responsible for several key packages, from inception to completion, on the Wellcome Trust Headquarters (Gibbs Building) in London. The expertise he gained working on high quality, contemporary architecture with a close attention to detail was developed further at Snell Associates where he collaborated with the artist Bruce McLean on the internal fit-out of the Arnolfini Centre for Contemporary Arts in Bristol.

Alex joined Designscape in 2007. He is currently Project Architect for several projects including Hill Farm Dairy and the Twinneys. He is also responsible for the continuing development of the practice’s office systems.
